Parents are Scary!

I was at the mall today with Ty, Nichole’s 2 year old son. She was getting her wisdom teeth removed (the chipmunk look is good on you, Nichole), so I took Ty to play at the mall. While we were playing at the Playground (okay, Ty was playing, I was watching), a fight broke out. Sure, the kids scuffle around and sometimes get upset, but I’m not talking about a fight between kids. It was the parents that were fighting!

This lady had her three kids (aged about 8, 5, and 4 months), and the oldest was running around almost knocking over other kids. He flew by this grandpa and almost knocked over his little granddaughter. The next time the kid came flying around the corner almost knocking over the little girl, the grandpa grabbed the boys arm and told him to stop running then let him go. About 10 minutes later the mother came over and said to the grandpa, “I don’t mind you telling my child to stop running, but don’t grab him”. The conversation continued with phrases like “I’ll grab him any time I need to”, “your children are out of control”, “learn how to train your children”, “get out of my face”, and “go sit down”. She responded with things like, “you are being rude”, “you are being obnoxious”, “i’m not in your face”, “you don’t tell me what to do”, “you don’t know who you are talking to”, and “I have witnesses that you grabbed my son”. It was crazy. I was sitting right next to the man as this “discussion” is going on. I could feel this lady’s blood pressure rising… it got to the point where they either needed to throw a punch or walk away. So the lady walked away…

As the grandpa was putting his granddaughters shoes on, he said to me, “Ma’am, I apologize, I’m sorry you had to hear that.” I just sorta acknowledged that he spoke and look away … I was not about to get into a conversation with this guy. As soon as he left, the mother came over trying to get my side of the story. I wasn’t interested in talking with either of these weirdos!

People need to chill out!

She just found out yesterday that she’s having a baby boy. His name (right now) is going to be William Cooper Richardson, called Cooper. Or, as I like to call him, Mini Coop.

Congratulations Ellen and Shane!!

Life Lesson Part 3

There was a man who was sitting on his deck one sunny afternoon eating his lunch, when a happy little canary landing on the railing. The man offered the little bird a piece of bologna from his sandwich, and the bird happily ate. The bird looked at the man as if to say he wanted more, so the man continued to feed the bird pieces of bologna from his sandwich, until the little bird couldn’t hold anymore. With his tummy full, the little bird began to sing with joy! As the bird was singing, it caught the attention of a chicken hawk soaring over head. The chicken hawk swooped down and ate the little bird.

Moral of the story:

If you are full of bologna, keep your mouth shut!

Life Lessons Part 2

One day there was a bird who decided that he did not want to migrate south with the flock. As winter approached, the bird got colder and colder and finally figured out that he made a dumb decision. As he took off to try and catch up with his flock, he began to get colder and colder, until he finally froze through and through and fell to the ground. As he was laying on the ground the realization that he was living his last moments became too much for him. Crying to himself as he felt his life slip away, he saw a cow walking towards him. The cow sniffed him, turned around and “plopped” on him. “FANTASTIC”, thought the frozen bird, “I’m spending my last moments of life covered in cow poop!” But as he lay in the frozen field covered in poo, he realized that he was beginning to warm up, and feeling was returning to his wings. He realized that he won’t die after all! In his udder (haha) excitement he began to sing and flap around. This caught the attention of the barn yard cat, who came over, scrapped of the poo, and devoured the thawed bird.

Moral of the Story:

1. Not everyone who poops on you is an enemy

2. Not everyone who scraps off the poop is a friend

3. When life poops on you, keep your mouth shut

oh the sweet sweet goodness

This morning was a rainy day at the beach … a perfect morning for a hot piece of Dona Van Dusen’s coffee cake.

Last year was my first Thanksgiving as a married lady. So tradition would say that I should bring something homemade to share with my new husband’s family. But while I enjoy making yummy goodies, there was one treat that was so good that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share the love. I had Vickie Griffin make me one of her oh-so-delicious Key Lime Pies from The Falls River Smokehouse. When I took the pie I was not even shy to announce that I had bought the pie because it was just that good!

This year, I want to take some of Dona’s coffee cake … because it is just that good! Maybe I can make my own tradition of buying great desserts (that would take the pressure off of the other ladies that marry into the family after me. They can thank me later).

she didn’t over-cook!

Baby Scarlet Rayne Suo was born this morning at 2:17am. She weighed in at about 7lbs with dark hair and a healthy set of lungs! Mommy, Daddy, and Baby are doing great! We were joking with Tabitha that if Scarlet wasn’t born soon that she might overcook, but she didn’t, she was born right on time!

Happy Birthday Scarlet!

my hero

When asking young children who their hero is, you get answers like Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and various sport stars. When determining who your hero is, you have to look at certain criteria. Little kids pick those people as their heroes because they usually represent something that they want to be or obtain.

In my life I have several heroes: my mom, for the sacrifices she made for me. my husband, for his heart for people and his love for God. and my brother.

My older brother serves as a medic in the Special Forces of the Army. He has served for 7 years, has jumped out of airplanes, hunted terrorists in war zones, and is now getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan with SF. He is my hero because of the freedom he fights for. He didn’t have to join the Army, he wasn’t drafted, and he was not forced to re-enlist after returning from a year in combat. He fights for our country because he knows its right. He sacrifices time away from his wife, and puts his life on the line everyday because he understands that freedom isn’t free.

I will sleep in peace tonight knowing that he is on the front lines protecting me.

Go get ‘em, Snotface!!

(I used younger pictures of him because that is the way I want to always see him. I always want to remember the brother I grew up with, and want to distance my thoughts of him as a trained and skilled warrior. It just makes it easier … )

Valuable Life Lesson

… don’t sabotage yourself in a staring contest by thinking of a Chuck Norris joke to tell your opponent to make them laugh and lose the competition.

I learn something new from my husband everyday!
